Removing the Cap was a massive undertaking which necessitated a great deal of planning before it was attempted.
10th and 11th January 2011
Removing the Cap

Removing the bolts etc to release the sweeps from the stocks. This involved volunteer Alan hanging over the edge of the cherrypicker.
The cap and fanstage being gently lowered onto the barrels which had been prepared ready.

A temporary cap has been made. This was lowered into place to keep the tower dry.
Thanks are due to Paul Cousins and Bill Crittenden for a splendid job, well done.

November 2011
The cap now well on its way to being repaired
